VTS and/or Pilot Operator, temporary employment as needed
based in Gothenburg
The Swedish Maritime Administration is responsible for providing pilot services in Swedish waters and also open sea pilotage. The pilots' assignments are ordered via a traffic center, where you as a pilot operator ensure that the assignments are planned as efficiently as possible based on customer needs and resource availability.
Job Responsibilities
In the role of Pilot Operator, you work as a logistics coordinator with the tasks of receiving pilot orders and distributing and planning pilot assignments, recording service times, vessel arrival and departure times, as well as handling ongoing administrative tasks related to the pilotage process. As an operator, we maintain close contact with our customers and our internal resources. At times, the work pace is high, and you are expected to handle multiple events simultaneously. Sometimes the conditions change at short notice, and you must quickly revise your planning. The work is performed at irregular hours both day and night.
In the role of VTS operator, you work within the VTS area of Marstrand and Lysekil. There, you work with modern technology to monitor and provide information to vessels about the traffic situation, any errors in the fairway markings, and other obstacles in the fairway. You are thus an important cog in the work to minimize the risk of maritime and environmental accidents and incidents in the area.
The work is performed at irregular hours both day and night. In this position, you will serve at our new traffic center in Gothenburg.
Who are you?
We are now looking for a person for the role of pilot operator or the combined role of VTS and Pilot Operator.
The following are requirements for pilot operators:
• High school diploma.
• Ship officer class VIII and SRC.
• Good ability to express yourself in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills and the ability to easily handle various IT systems.
The following are requirements to work as a VTS and Pilot Operator:
• Captain's degree
• Good ability to express yourself in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills and the ability to easily handle various IT systems.
Experience in logistics work or education in the logistics field is an advantage. It is also advantageous to have experience working irregular hours both day and night.

This recruitment concerns a temporary employment as needed but for a maximum of one year.
